One of the most popular street food here in the Philippines is balut. It is a 20-day old fertilized egg is considered as a fear-factor food for some non-Filipino eaters.In New Zealand it was being introduced by a business woman from the Philippines in the name of Cecilia Tan. Because of the strong demand of the Filipino migrants and workers in the country she decided to include it as one of the dishes in her restaurant. Balut is commonly found in every corner in the Philippines. According to them it is nice and somewhat addictive. Once tasted always wanted.Many foreigners have tried eating it and its different as to what their impression. It is very cheap and nutritious food because it could somehow boost ones libido.

Although, balut is very popular here I haven't eaten it yet because I'm a little scared of eating the chick inside it. They say it is very delicious egg dish but I didn't dare to eat it yet.I do agree with those who haven't tried it that it is a fear- factor food since its a bit scary. It is cheap here at the same time it is nutritious. Balut usually sold during night time so that they could not notice much of what is inside.
