IKEA, a division of Swedish furniture chain in Japan announced to make some necessary changes in their company. By thi coming September 2014, they wanted to eliminate the fixed term contract of the part- time workers. Moreso, they planned to raise the salary of their part-time employees which makes up to 70 percent of its working force without lowering the wage of the full time employees. But there were apprehensions coming from the public if it would really be realized or it would just merely promises. Some asked that where are they going to get the funds for such big changes or are they going to fire workers or they are going to decrease the quality of the materials of their furnitures. There are also positive people expressing their full support of the company's plan. Hoping that they are really doing it for the best interest of its workers.

The move to make some changes by the IKEA Japan is good amid the economic situation that the country is facing. The apprehensions of the public is very normal since there are some who will just publicize something for its own publicity.Workers play a great role in the success of a certain company. Its worth the salt for them. Just like some of the concerned Japanese we will hope for it will come to a reality not just a lip service. At this time seldom you could hear companies bragging for a salary increase rather you could hear retrenchment of workers.They are taking a bold step and it would greatly change the life of every workers.
