<Summary>
There are zillions of fraud scams out there. If we listed them all, your eyes would glaze over. The fraud criminals’ goals are simple. They’re either trying to get your money, get your information, or both. Scams aimed at stealing money involve a variety of techniques. Sweepstake scam is very common. If you didn’t enter, you can’t win!! And if you did enter, you wouldn’t be required to send them money to pay taxes or anything else before receiving your prize. This is a classic “advance-fee-scam.”

<Opinion>
One of the most challenging aspects of entering sweepstakes is that nagging feeling that you will never really win or that you are being scammed. It's hard to enter sweepstakes day after day with no guarantee that you'll win and it's nearly impossible to keep it up if you have a negative attitude about it. There are thousands of legitimate sweepstakes and contests going on at any given time with legitimate sponsors awarding small prizes with a retail of a few dollars all the way to huge cash prizes, trips, cars and scholarships. So many sweepstakes and contests developed to get your personal information so you can be spammed forever. When you enter a sweepstakes or contest, make sure you recognize the sponsor. If you have never heard of the company that claims to be sponsoring a particular sweepstakes or contest, you may want to pass on entering. If the sponsor is a reputable household brand name or a nationally known company, then it is most likely a great sweepstakes to enter.
